EVACUATION UPDATE List of SE Texas bus staging sites updated (The Examiner)

Mandatory Evacuation Issued for Jefferson and Orange County (KBTV Beaumont)

Elected Officials in Jefferson and Orange County have called for a mandatory evacuation effective at 6:00 am today. Elected Officials in Hardin County have not called for an evacuation at this time.

Mandatory Evacuation of Jefferson, Orange Counties (KFDM Beaumont)

A mandatory evacuation order has been issued for Jefferson and Orange Counties due to the expected impact of Hurricane Ike. A voluntary evacuation order has been issued for Hardin County, according to Hardin County Judge Billy Caraway in a telephone interview Thursday morning with KFDM News. Newton County has ordered a mandatory evacuation of people with special needs in the Deweyville area.

Demand will drive buses tonight, service resumes 6 a.m. Sunday (Beaumont Enterprise)

As long as there is a steady stream of people boarding, buses will continue running through the night from area schools to West Brook High for those needing help leaving the city, a Beaumont emergency operations spokeswoman said.
