Six Ennis campuses earned either exemplary or recognized ratings by the Texas Education Agency. Austin Elementary and Houston Elementary were rated as exemplary. Bowie Elementary, Travis Elementary, Ennis Intermediate and Ennis Sixth Grade Center received a recognized rating.

Ennis High School head football coach Sam Harrell, a 1979 graduate of Abilene Christian University, was voted president-elect of the Texas High School Coaches Association on Wednesday.

Tickets are on sale for a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Abilene that will feature former Dallas Cowboys player Deion Sanders.
